6 ways to support your nervous system health

What is the most important organ in the body? Many people would say the heart. While the heart is absolutely vital, it theoretically can be replaced. Also, the heart can’t beat without input from the nervous system signaling proper rate, rhythm and intensity. So I would argue the brain and spinal cord are the most important organs in the body. If they are the most important organs in the body, shouldn’t we do our best to take care of them?

These are 5 of the best ways to support your nervous system health

1. Get enough sleep!

What does this mean? For most individuals, 8 hours of sleep will be enough to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest); allowing the body to recover

2. Exercise

Regular exercise, especially activities you enjoy, allow you CNS to unwind while stimulating dopamine, serotonin and other “good mood feeling” neurotransmitters.

3. Meditate

Meditation is a fantastic tool which trains your nervous system to better regulate heart rate, blood pressure and breathing.

4. Eat healthy

The food we eat is broken down into the nutrients that support our bodies, including the neurons that make up our nervous system.

5. Limit toxins

Toxins impact the release of neurotransmitters impacting the response and tolerance of neurons as they send signals.

6. Consistent chiropractic care

Specific, neurologically based chiropractic care supports optimal nervous system health.
